Bienvenue en Français I !
Test out for French I:
The test out for French I will be announced by flyers in the high school building. All French I students will be required to take the test.
Grading:
5% Homework, 20 % classwork, 25% Quizzes, 30% Tests and projects, 20% Exam
Homework:
If homework is not turned in on the due date a 0 will be placed in the grade book. Students will have up to 4 days to turn in un-excused work but 10% will be taken off of the grade. Example: The student turns the assignment and receives a 90/100, the grade will be reduced by 10% and the 0 will be replaced with an 80%. After the 4th day, no late work will be received. Students with a valid excuse must bring documentation from parents and/or the school.
Testing and re-test:
There will be no retakes for most assignments. However, for unit tests, retakes may be given at the discretion of the teacher. A retake request form must be filled out and the additional assignments completed before the test is taken again. Retakes will only be given after additional work has been completed to ensure that the student has prepared for the test.
The assessments will be done as follows:
· Homework
· Quizzes and dictations
o These will not always be announced ahead of time
· Unit tests
· Final exam at the end of each semester
Resources:
· You, as the student, the most important part of this class. I'm glad you're here; I'm excited to see what you will add to the classroom. As an integral part of the course, I expect you to show up for every class with a notebook, the textbook, writing utensils, and your homework finished. Each class will require different materials. At times you will have an assignment or a group project that will require use of the overhead projector. Whatever the assignment, your job is to show up to class prepared and ready for the day.
· I recommend a three ring binder with dividers as we will be separating our notes.
· Homework and classwork will be given either from the class textbook, or from resources on the class blog (jsfrench1.blogspot.com)
Blog: jsfrench1.blogspot.com
· We're using Sycamore to input grades, but most of your homework assignments will be posted on the blog. The blog has a calendar that you can sync to your iPhone or home computer so that you can track assignments. It also has links to Quizlet for each unit's vocabulary lessons.
Quiz:
· Once you’ve read this letter, please go to the quiz assigned to this letter and fill out your response.
I'm excited to start this year out with you. If nothing else, remember this: I am here to help you. Talk to me. Explain what may be bothering you. Let's work as a team.
Under His Mercy
